Terms of Service
These terms are the working agreement between you and Aetera. We've written them in the same voice we use everywhere else: plain, brief, and honest.
The service
Aetera is an AI-powered photograph restoration service operated at aetera.app. Uploading an image submits it to our restoration pipeline; the resulting file is yours to download for 48 hours before it is permanently deleted from our storage.
We do not promise specific aesthetic outcomes. We promise honest effort, transparent failure modes, and the privacy guarantees set out below.
Your account
You may create an account using a valid email and password or via Google sign-in. You are responsible for the security of your credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
One account per person; account sharing is not supported.
Your photographs
You retain all rights to any image you upload. You grant Aetera a temporary, non-exclusive licence to process the image solely to produce the restoration you requested. That licence expires automatically when the file is deleted at the 48-hour mark.
You may not upload images for which you do not hold the necessary rights, or images that infringe third-party rights, depict illegal activity, or violate any applicable law.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Aetera to:
- Process imagery of minors in any harmful context.
- Produce material that defames, harasses, or impersonates a real person without consent.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our models, prompts, or processing infrastructure.
- Resell access without a separate written agreement.
Payment & cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe. You may cancel any subscription at any time from your account; access continues until the end of the current billing period. Top-up credits are one-time purchases and never expire.
If a restoration fails for technical reasons attributable to Aetera, the credit is refunded automatically. Refunds for subscriptions are handled case by case within 14 days of the most recent charge.
Intellectual property
The Aetera brand, interface, and underlying systems remain our property. Restorations of your photographs are derivative works that belong to you. Open-source components used in our models are credited in our public documentation.
Liability
Aetera is provided as-is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the fees you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, with reasonable notice where practical. On termination, any remaining processed files continue under the 48-hour deletion rule; account metadata is removed within 30 days.
Changes to these terms
We will publish material changes with at least 14 days' notice via email and on this page. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The version history is available on request.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union, with venue in Vienna, Austria. Mandatory consumer-protection laws of your jurisdiction still apply where required.
